Welcome to the website of the Oregon State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). As the state council for Oregon, the Oregon State Council coordinates the activities of local chapters in the state of Oregon. We currently have 9 chapters throughout the state.
Founded in 1978, VVA is the only national veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Today, Vietnam Veterans of America has a national membership of over 90,000, with over 500 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Philippines.
Membership in the Vietnam Veterans of America is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between February 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between August 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975.
This was our annual meeting which was held at the Oregon State Veterans Home in Lebanon, OR. A special presentation was made to former president Jaycee Newman in thanks for his prior service to VVA in various roles in the Oregon State Council. A Certificate of Apprecation was presented to Jaycee by VVA Region 8 Director Francisco Ivarra.
