Oregon State Council Meeting - April 15, 2023

This meeting featured guest speaker Dick Tobiason, who gave the council an update on various highway memorial projects he is working on. We also had a presentation by Ken Buckles and his wife Malinda. They completed a cross-country trip in the fall of 2022 to honor Vietnam veterans across America. Their mission was to remind Americans how Vietnam veterans were treated when they returned home. They visited 38 cities in a specially equipped Hummer.

 

VVA Leadership Conference 2022

Oregon State Council President Jim Fleming and Vice President Jaycee Newman attended the VVA Leadership Conference in Greenville, SC in August.

We met with VVA National President Jack McManus, and the National VVA Director Policy & Government Affairs, Sharon Hodge. Bill Duncan, Bill Maxon and Francisco Ivarro were all key advocates in lobbying and achieving support from Vietnam Veterans of America at the National level.

Vietnam War Veterans Day 2022

Roseburg Chapter 805 sponsored an event in honor of Vietnam War Veterans day on March 29, 2022 at the Roseburg VA Cemetery. The event was well-attended and included local dignitaries, VVA and AVVA members and their families, and the general public.

Jaycee Newman of the Oregon State Council and VVA Region 8 Director Francisco Ivarra were invited to attend Chapter 805's Christmas party in Roseburg. They were hosted by Bill Duncan, Chapter 805 President. At the event they presented an award to AVVA Roseburg Chapter 805 Vice President Ruth Feliciano and AVVA Chapter 805 President / Region 8 Director Jennifer Ellis for their positive improvements the AVVA program in Roseburg.

 

Oregon State Council Meeting - November 2, 2019

Dick Tobiason from the Bend Heroes Foundation makes a presentation about the project to designate U.S. Highway 26 the POW/MIA Memorial Highway." The Oregon State Chapter made a donation to this project at the meeting. Installation signs on Highway 26 is expected to begin in the spring of 2020.
